Manchester Afternoon Tea

I was the lucky winner of the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly’s competition for my friend Linda and I to enjoy afternoon tea with a view.  What a lovely experience we had!  The tea room looks out over Manchester Piccadilly Gardens, so you can watch the world go by as you sip your Earl Grey!

The menu was all Manchester themed and every bit of it was delicious.  We had coronation (street) chicken wraps, Cheshire cheese with Boddington’s chutney, Bury black pudding scotch eggs (my favourite!), Manchester tart (remember that from school?), Jaffa cakes, Vimto trifle and scones with clotted cream.  To say we were spoilt is an understatement.

We trekked around Manchester’s shops all afternoon to burn off the calories.

If you’re having a shopping trip to Manchester, this is well worth a visit!

  1. If I’m going to go out for a meal, breakfast and afternoon tea are my two favourites. Really like the innovative stand they’ve used.

  2. Wow, lucky you! That looks like a lovely Afternoon Tea! I tried black pudding scotch egg at a food festival in Cardiff a few years ago and it was out of this world!

  3. Ooh congratualtions on winning such a lovely prize, the Bury black pudding scotch eggs sound incredible…. right up my street 🙂 Vimto trifle sounds really interesting too! x
